Jasperina Verheij (1999), mezzosopraan en blokfluitist, is een veelzijdig en expressieve musicus. Met een combinatie van vele interesses en studies in muziek (zang en blokfluit) én wetenschap zoekt ze naar de grensvlakken van verschillende disciplines en haalt ze haar inspiratie overal vandaan. Ze werkt dan ook graag samen met bijvoorbeeld theatermakers, wetenschappers, componisten en dansers.
Ze won meerdere prijzen op het Prinses Christina Concours en zong en speelde op o.a. het Grachtenfestival Amsterdam, het Opera Forward Festival, Gaudeamus Muziekweek, festival November Music, het Festival Oude Muziek (fringe), Batenburg Baroque en vele andere concertseries en -locaties. Daarnaast soleerde ze met verschillende orkesten waaronder het Residentie Orkest en Orkest de Ereprijs.
Samen met pianist Willem van den Dool vormt zij een liedduo waarmee ze regelmatig liedrecitals geeft. Hiermee wonnen ze recent een eervolle vermelding op het Grachtenfestival Conservatorium Concours, waar ze geprezen werden om hun uitzonderlijke duo-kwaliteiten en poëtische inzet. Samen volgden zij bovendien masterclasses op het Internationaal Liedfestival Zeist bij onder andere Elly Ameling, Robert Holl, Wolfram Rieger en Malcolm Martineau. In seizoen 2023-2024 zullen ze als duo deelnemen aan de Udo Reinemann International Masterclasses in Brussel, waarbij ze gecoacht worden door onder andere Christianne Stotijn, Hartmut Höll en Sir Thomas Allen.
Op het operatoneel was ze onder andere te zien in scènes uit Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro (Cherubino), geregisseerd door Floris Visser en in Die Zauberflöte (third knabe) bij de Dutch National Opera Academy. In januari 2024 vertolkte ze de rol van Medea in Händel's opera 'Teseo', geregisseerd door Michael Chance.
Jasperina studeert voor haar Master zang bij Noa Frenkel aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium, waarvoor ze de 'scholarship for excellence' ontving. Aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium behaalde ze in 2023 haar bachelor zang met onderscheiding, en in 2022 haar bachelor blokfluit bij Daniël Brüggen. Daarnaast volgde ze zanglessen bij oude muziekspecialisten Peter Kooij, Francesca Aspromonte en Pascal Bertin. Bovendien heeft zij haar bachelor Life Science & Technology behaald aan de universiteiten van Leiden en Delft.
Jasperina speelt op instrumenten gebouwd door Joanne Saunders, Ralph Ehlert en Li Virghi, mogelijk gemaakt door de support van Stichting Eigen Muziekinstrument.
Jasperina Verheij (1999), is a versatile recorder player and mezzo soprano. Having diverse interests in music, science, dance and other artforms, she finds inspiration everywhere. She enjoys working with other disciplines such as theater directors, scientists, composers and dancers.
She has performed at numerous music festivals such as the Early Music Festival in Utrecht (fringe), the Grachtenfestival in Amsterdam, Gaudeamus Muziekweek, Opera Forward Festival, November Music and in many other concert series throughout the Netherlands and abroad. She also performed as a soloist with several orchestras among which Orkest de Ereprijs and het Residentie Orkest. Together with pianist Willem van den Dool she forms a liedduo, with which they regularly perform known and unknown songs in recitals. Together they won an honourable mention at the Grachtenfestival Conservatorium Concours, praised for their exceptional duo-qualities and poetic engagement. They were one of the selected promising liedduo's at the International Liedfestival Zeist, where they received masterclasses from, among others, Elly Ameling, Robert Holl, Malcolm Martineau and Wolfram Rieger. In 2023-2024 they will participate as a duo in the Udo Reinemann International Masterclasses, where they will be coached by, among others, Christianne Stotijn, Sir Thomas Allen and Hartmut Höll.
At the opera stage she performed (scènes of) le Nozze di Figaro in the role of Cherubino (under the direction of Floris Visser) and Die Zauberflöte (3rd knabe) with the Dutch National Opera Academy. In January 2024 she will play and sing the role of Medea in Händel's opera Teseo, directed by Michael Chance.
She graduated in classical singing with distinction at the Royal Conservatoire in the Hague and continues to study for her master degree with Noa Frenkel at the Royal Conservatoire in the Hague, for which she was awarded the scholarship for excellence. She received her bachelor in recorder playing at this school as well, having studied with Daniël Brüggen. Besides, she specialized in early music singing with Peter Kooij, Francesca Aspromonte and Pascal Bertin. She furthermore completed a bachelor in Life Science & Technology at the universities of Leiden and Delft.
